    Marlins Reach .500 With Win Over Snakes

    The Miami Marlins defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 on Friday night at LoanDepot Park.

    Trevor Rogers allowed one run on five hits and struck out seven in six-plus innings for the Marlins, who won their third straight. Garrett Cooper and Bryan De La Cruz each had three hits for Miami.

    Madison Bumgarner allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings for the Diamondbacks, who have lost four of five.

    The Marlins took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Cooper. The Diamondbacks tied the game in the second inning on a solo home run by Daulton Varsho.

    The Marlins broke the tie in the fourth inning with four runs. Cooper had an RBI single, De La Cruz had a two-run double, and Miguel Rojas had an RBI single.

    The Marlins added a run in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Avisaíl García.

    Steven Okert pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Marlins to earn his first save of the season.

    The Marlins and Diamondbacks will play the second game of their three-game series on Saturday night.
