    Marlins Nearly Blow Big Lead, Top Cubs

    The Miami Marlins defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-6 on April 29, 2023, at loanDepot park. The Marlins jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings, but the Cubs rallied to make it a one-run game in the ninth. However, the Marlins were able to hold on for the win.

    Jesús Sánchez had a big game for the Marlins, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Garrett Cooper also homered for the Marlins, while Avisaíl García had three hits and two RBIs.

    The Cubs were led by Willson Contreras, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Ian Happ also homered for the Cubs, while Patrick Wisdom had two hits and two RBIs.

    The Marlins’ starter, Edward Cabrera, was dominant, allowing just two runs on four hits in six innings. The Cubs’ starter, Caleb Killian, struggled, allowing seven runs on nine hits in three innings.

    The win for the Marlins improved their record to 10-10, while the loss for the Cubs dropped their record to 7-12.
