Your eyes do not deceive you. The Marlins have answered the prayers of fans and brought teal back for the 2023 season.
Miami will wear 1993 uniforms for select Friday home games this coming season. That means a white jersey with teal pinstripes and a teal word mark which reads “Marlins” across the chest. The team will finish off the look with teal hats. This uniform will be a perfect replica of the jerseys worn for then Florida’s first ever game on April 5, 1993.
Marlins legend Jeff Conine made the big announcement during the team’s annual FanFest event on Saturday. The news brought cheers from the fans in attendance and quick business at the stadium store. Miami has put a number of throwback items up for sale in the official store and fans were in a rush to scoop them up.
The Marlins will also bring back former players from the franchise during Friday home games for meet and greets, as well as interviews. The team also plans to host a few giveaways for fans this year, with throwback inspired looks.
Miami will be referring to Friday home games as Flashback Fridays in 2023.
