    Luzardo Looks Good in Loss

The Miami Marlins lost on Tuesday, but Jesus Luzardo showed he could be ready for the season to begin.

In his first appearance since returning from the World Baseball Classic, Luzardo allowed two runs on four hits in five innings of work. The lefty struck out five and walked none, while being tagged with the loss. Luzardo will likely make one final start before the regular season gets underway.

A.J. Puk and Andrew Nardi combined for three scoreless innings of relief out of Miami’s pen. Puk could see save opportunities for the Marlins, while Nardi continues to look like he will lock down a roster spot. Nardi struck out four batters in his two innings of work in this one.

On the offensive side of things, Miami was kept mostly off the board. The Marlins had six hits, but only one went for extra bases. That knock was courtesy of Jesus Sanchez, who reached with his fifth double of the spring. Sanchez is trying to win the final spot in Miami’s starting outfield.

The Marlins will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday, when they host the St. Louis Cardinals. Trevor Rogers will be making the start for Miami.
