The Miami Heat defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 130-117 on Sunday in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference playoff series.
Tyler Herro broke his hand during the second quarter and is expected to miss the rest of the series. It will be tough for Miami to make up for Herro’s contributions on offense, but this game’s result is a positive sign for the club.
Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 35 points and 11 assists, while Bam Adebayo added 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The Bucks were without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who left the game in the second quarter with a back injury.
The Heat jumped out to a 17-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led by as many as 26 points in the second half. The Bucks made a late push, but it wasn’t enough.
The Heat shot 50% from the field and 40% from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Bucks 44-36. The Bucks shot 42% from the field and 30% from three-point range. They also turned the ball over 18 times.
The Heat will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series on Tuesday night in Milwaukee.
