Panthers Pick Up Win To Inch Closer

The Florida Panthers defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night at FLA Live Arena. The Panthers now trail 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

The Panthers got goals from Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, and Gustav Forsling. Huberdeau had three assists.

The Golden Knights got goals from William Karlsson and Chandler Stephenson.

The Panthers outshot the Golden Knights 39-31.

The game was tied 2-2 after regulation. In the second overtime, the Panthers won the faceoff in their own zone and quickly moved the puck up the ice. Huberdeau passed the puck to Barkov, who skated in and fired a shot past Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner for the game-winning goal.

The Panthers will have a chance to close out the series when they host Game 4 on Monday night.

Here are some of the key takeaways from the game:

    • The Panthers’ offense was clicking all night long. They were able to generate a lot of quality scoring chances and they capitalized on their opportunities.
    • The Panthers’ defense was also solid. They were able to limit the Golden Knights’ chances and they made some big saves when they needed to.
    • The Golden Knights’ offense was able to generate some chances, but they couldn’t get the puck past Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.
    • The Golden Knights’ defense was a bit of a liability. They gave up too many scoring chances and they didn’t make enough big saves.
